“I knew it was going to be a very productive drive and a fun day for our staff and the donors when I walked into the gym and the first thing I saw was a student walking around on his hands” remarked Aaron Williams, Community Relations Specialist for Cascade Regional Blood Services.
Productive drive is an understatement. The Foss students exceeded their goal and registered 138 donors at their second drive of the year. That total is not only a record for Foss HS but for all Tacoma School District high schools! Managing that many donors can be a challenge, but with some diligence and attention to detail the drive ran very smoothly. Thanks to Mrs. Edwards, the staff advisor, Sasha Jun, Christine, Denise Ngo and Iv Dang for their commitment and the awesome results. The student volunteers did a great job of keeping track of the students that had signed up and made sure everyone was reminded of their appointment. The motivated student volunteers also hit the streets gathering food donations including several dozen Krispy Kreme doughnuts and 10 Round Table pizzas. The generosity of these businesses does not go unnoticed. They both have been great contributors to numerous blood drives. Cascade Regional Blood Services and our blood drive sponsors send a big thank you to these great community partners. The food and energetic (sometimes acrobatic) students made for a very festive and lively event.
This drive is a perfect example of teamwork and commitment. Great job Falcons!
